Good and Bad Ads

First, the good.  I chose an ad for Grey Goose Vodka.  For the summer they are promoting flavored vodka, specifically orange.  I liked the ad for the fact it was bright, simple, and appeals to a wide audience of people.  I think it is an informative ad, as its introducing a drink that would go well with summer.

The bad ad I chose is for Chanel.  Its an ad for their boutique stores.  The target audience would be older women with money.  The reason I dont think the ad really works is there is nothing to identify their brand or connect the product in the actual photo.  The clothing featured does not have name or logo anywhere on it.  The ad is set in an instant photo booth, which I don't think is something the target audience generally associates with. Its also not succesful as I am not sure what sort of ad this is, because I don't really understand what they are trying to get across.

First Assignment!

So here we are in Art 39.  Everyone has a different reason why it seems, and here is mine.  I have decided to go for a graphic design certificate.  My main goal is to work in web design.  I'm fascinated by advertising, and the differences between online and off.  Don't worry, I have no intention of ever designing those obnoxious flashing pop up ads that when you click the x to close them, it  just brings up more!  I look forward to this class and a good semester.
